Honors in Psychology

Admission to the Honors Psychology Program is by application letter and approval of instructor. 

Candidate Requirements:

  • GPA in psychology and overall GPA are 3.5 or higher.
  • Apply and be accepted into the Honors Psychology Program in the Fall of Junior Year.
  • Completion of PSYC 498: Thesis Development Seminar and PSYC 499: Honors Thesis Seminar.
  • Complete oral presentation.

The honors program is completed in the following sequence:

I. Spring - Junior Year

PSYC 498: Thesis Development Seminar 

Proposal development and IRB application

II. Fall - Senior Year

PSYC 499: Honors Thesis Seminar

Data collection and thesis writing 

III. Spring - Senior Year

Oral presentation 

PSYC 498 and PSYC 499 are a two-course sequence for high achieving and highly motivated psychology majors, that will give them hands-on experience in generating, conducting, analyzing and communicating the results of empirical psychological research.
