Transfer Course Substitution
Procedure to Receive Credit for Transfer Courses
To determine whether a psychology course you took elsewhere will substitute for a USF psychology course, you must submit a Substitution Request form. A faculty reviewer will evaluate the syllabus for equivalency and may contact you if more information is needed. A decision will be made usually within 1-2 weeks.
Steps:
- Fill out the Substitution Request form*
- Attach the course syllabus. Course descriptions will not be reviewed. If you do not have the syllabus, contact the psychology department from your previous institution.
*Special notes:
- ARM/ART courses (PSYC 387 and PSYC 388) cannot be substituted.
- A minimum of 16 units of upper division courses within the psychology major must be taken at USF (12 units minimum for psychology minors).
- If you took a Rhetoric and Composition course at a previous institution, you must still complete a Rhetoric and Composition (Core A2) course at USF. Psychology majors are required to take RHET 203 Writing in Psychology as part of their foundation requirements.
