Transfer Students

Procedure to receive credit for transfer courses

To determine whether a psychology course you took elsewhere will substitute for a USF Psychology course, submit a Substitution Request form. A faculty reviewer will evaluate the syllabus and determine if it is equivalent. A follow-up email will be sent to you within approximately 2 weeks.

Steps:

  1. Fill out the Substitution Request form*
  2. Attach the course syllabus. Course descriptions will not be reviewed. If you do not have the syllabus, contact the psychology department from your previous institution.

*Special notes:

  • ARM/ART courses cannot be substituted.
  • A minimum of 16 units of upper division courses within the Psychology major must be taken at USF.
  • If you took a Rhetoric and Composition course at a previous institution, you must still complete a Rhetoric and Composition (Core A2) course at USF. Psychology majors are required to take RHET 203 Writing in Psychology as part of their foundation requirements.
